How to Use This Analyzer

This analyzer breaks down sports contracts into key metrics that matter for fantasy decisions, analysis, and negotiation strategy. Start by selecting your league and entering the contract details you have.

The guarantee ratio shows what portion of the deal is actual money at risk. In the NFL, where contracts can have many void years, this metric is critical. In the NBA and MLB, most contracts are fully guaranteed or near-full, making the ratio less meaningful but still useful for comparison.

Void years are contract years that become null if the player is cut. They do not pay the player but create dead money on the salary cap. Enter the number of void years to see their impact on annual averages.

The position selector helps you compare against positional benchmarks. Quarterbacks, stars at their positions, and elite pitchers typically command higher averages. Use this to evaluate whether a deal is market-rate or a premium assignment.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Why This Matters for Fantasy

Players on fully guaranteed deals have more security. Those on low-guarantee, high-bonus structures may be cut if performance dips. This affects roster decisions and trade value. A player with a 100% guarantee ratio but low AAV may be cut anyway, while a player with 60% guarantee but high cap hit could be a trade candidate.

Use the analyzer during free agency periods and trade deadlines. New deals often signal player motivation. A player on a team-friendly deal may be more likely to perform at a high level.
